Cali Karaoke

A computer and a decent sound system are all you need to organize a karaoke party. If you want your friends to remember the party, you will need a bit more than a standard media player. Cali Karaoke will give your party that boost you want. It is a karaoke software capable of playing MIDI files from a DVD. There are not too many options on its interface, but you will find everything you need to turn your computer into a karaoke system.

Cali Karaoke is compatible with most Windows versions and its low system requirements allow you to run it even on slower computers. The setup file is 7.32 Mb large and the installation process is fast.

The software comes with a DVD, called "California MIDI Karaoke", which contains over 20.000 songs in different languages, including English, Spanish, Japanese, Russian and more. The tracks are already listed on the program's small interface, so you only need to insert the DVD and play them. An ID is associated with each song. This makes it possible to find and play a specific track by simply typing its ID on the interface.

A series of hyperlinks, on the right edge of the window, can be used to play a selected track, add it to a queue or favorites list and filter the tracks according to their languages. You can switch from the main tracks list to a favorites list or a playback queue by clicking the icons on the window's title bar. Like in other players, you can rearrange the order in the queue by selecting tracks and clicking the options on the right side of the interface. If you have your own MIDI tracks on your hard drive, you can load them by using a hot key. A new window will appear, where you can browse for your tracks and add them to a list.

A song's lyrics are displayed on the lower area of the interface, and they are well synchronized with the audio track. The software supports Unicode text, so the lyrics may be written in any language, with any characters. For better visuals, a slideshow will play at all times on the interface's background. If you want to play back your own images, you can select an images folder by clicking one of the options on the title bar.
